Guys… Thought I’d do part of the intro here to cut down on time Monday.
In this episode, the 3Bs…
- The party begin their trek into the Nexus
- They encounter groups of Orcs who are beginning to breach the Nexus
- They find Jen…
“Scattered across the lower slopes are numerous steaming fissures, some as small as tiny cracks in the stone with others large enough to accommodate an ogre. The rocks here are slippery and aside from ropes of brown-black fungus, moss, and lichen, nothing lives here. The air stinks of sulfur and grows stronger nearest the plumes of acrid smoke wafting up from the holes. About a hundred feet down from the lowest cracks is a campsite. There, you see five horses tied up and empty feed bags hanging from their heads”
Khalad leads you onwards and into the vents themselves. The vents go through the entire mountain in a labyrinth of interconnected, natural, tunnels. It takes you the best part of three days (everyone is fully rested) with Khalad leading the way. You know for sure that without him you would have been turned around several times and this journey could have taken weeks.
Eventually you reach an old network of excavated passages and ahead you can see the opening to a chamber….
Four orcs engage in a heated argument, one pointing back into the corridor behind them. The biggest of the lot points in your direction, growling deep in his chest.
Combat ensued with The orc freaks, bombardier and sergeant. Whilst fighting the group could here what sounded like combat from the next room.
A wide corridor stretches before you and ends at a pair of double doors. About halfway down, you see a strange creature that resembles a crossbow with legs, flanked by two iron dogs. Down the sides or the room are crossbow turrets which swivel towards you and start firing. Littering the floor are the bodies of more Orcs
The party took cover and quickly realised that Kalad wasn’t getting attacked. Sending him forwards to disable the trap. Kalad botched his attempt several times resulting in the control panel blowing up in his face and the 3 B’s carefully manoeuvring so as to be able to take out the turrets, Iron Defenders and arbelest one at a time.
They search the room, same old rubbish but also find the severed head on Jen from the FarStriders, the Warlock who disenchanted their dagger for them.
